French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Telecom(munications) / TV
French term or phrase:édition de chaînes
This term, along with "éditeur de chaînes", appears often in a presentation (impact of digitalization on the media) I'm translating. "Editeur de chaînes" has already been covered in another Kudoz question where it was simply translated "channels". My problem is that these terms often appear in value chains, after production (so it's not editing) and before aggregation, distribution, and broadcasting. The best I can come up with is channel production but that's too much like production.
Explanation: I suggest this as being one of the stages in the TV value chain which seems to be missing from those you have mentioned - it is the final stage of assembly of a single programme channel, within the premises of the originating broadcaster. It very much depends on who wrote the French text!

Hi Anna - with the information you have just added, I can confirm that the correct term for the technical area where a programme channel is assembled is a "continuity suite", and this operates according to instructions from a department likely to be called "scheduling and continuity department" or something similar.
