Tech/Engineering - Telecom(munications) / smartcards
French term or phrase: l’informatique ambiante et communicante
Mind block! I understand the general concept, but can’t quite get my hands around an equivalent expression in English.

This is from an article about smartcard technology and how it can be used as a marketing tool:

La carte va ainsi bénéficier de la “convergence numérique” et de “l’informatique ambiante et communicante”. Demain, le client réservera titres de transport ou billets de spectacles avec son téléphone portable, paiera simultanément grâce à une puce bancaire à l’intérieur du téléphone et retirera ses billets sur place en présentant son mobile sans contact.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you !

pervasive, connected information technology

Explanation:
«communicant» can be slippery, but often corresponds to concepts expressed in IT-related EN writing as "connected".

agree  Charles Hawtrey: 'Connected' is a positive notion IMHO, while 'pervasive' often has somewhat negative connotations. How about 'ubiquitous'? FWIW//Edited a bit late - sorry!

-> Charles, I take the point; but I still feel "pervasive" fits best with the thought of all that embedded technology -- open to the reader to think of it as benign or sinister according to inclination!
