Fixed/mobile convergence
Explanation:
Refers to the phenomenon whereby people are increasingly using one phone as both a fixed line and a mobile. In the UK, BT have been offering this for some time and FT/Orange are now pushing similar services in France. You usually have a single handset which automatically acts as a fixed line home phone when you're at home, and as a mobile when you're not.

agree  B D Finch: I have one: a good idea that needs improvement. I like your "/" even though most ghits show people not using it. As this is fairly new, perhaps translators should strike a blow for better English usage and avoid the "fixed mobile" oxymoron.

-> Thanks - I feel the "/" is important too.

agree  Charles Hawtrey: "fixed-mobile convergence" got me 674,000 ghits - but the hyphen has no "g-significance" - many hits are with a space. Agreed about meaning, though, and effort by BT & others to make them converge. I'd not use BT sales bumf as a style standard, though...

Il n'est pas absolument certain que le marché actuel des professionnels soit prêt à accepter le concept de la convergence fixe mobile (FMC, pour Fixe Mobile Convergence).
