French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Telecom(munications)
French term or phrase: téléboutique/taxiphone
Hi,

I am doing a translation about the telecoms systems in callshops. The original French document refers to "téléboutiques", "taxiphones" and "callshops". Am I right in thinking that these all refer to the same thing - "callshops" in English. Or are they different?

Any advice would be most welcome.

Many thanks : )

Pay telephone
Explanation:
While these are generally shops, there are a whole variety of terms for them. Pay telephone is the standard translation in American English, despite this referring normally to a phone booth, and not the shop usually designated by a taxiphone. I might lean toward public call office or something like that, but the web reference I listed, from the EU terminology folks, gives a bunch of other variants that may fit your context better.
