| Grading comment Thank you all for your help. Michel is right here, the consultation is limited to a small number of providers. Later in the document I came across Jane's term after the company makes a pre-selection, they end up with a short list of providers. My text uses short list in parentheses many pages on.

HERE, the COMPANY is doing this, hence, it is SHORT LISTING its suppliers or consultants..
