French term or phrase: robe en « I »
This is taken from a description of a company's spring/summer collection and refers to a style of dress which features heavily in the collection.

"Des robes en « I », tailles marquées, ...."

There is no other context as the next item in the list refers to footwear. I can say, though, that the collection in question has a 'fifties' touch, reminiscent of the style of Grace Kelly.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

TIA

agree  Sandra Petch: Could well be. I was thinking "long, slim dresses" but this is much better. And pencil skirts were definitely fashionable in the 40s and 50s.

agree  Verginia Ophof: both terms come up equally, so maybe the difference lies in UK or US English or mostly used term......try googling : pencil dress + sheath dress + Grace Kelly + 50's
