Thanks for all your research. I still think these gloves are referred to as gauntlet gloves, and in this particular case I do not think they are made of leather. I have translated another document about white lambskin gauntlet gloves! However, nowhere in the document does it mention that these gloves are made of cotton so I am reluctant to go for that. They are made of some soft material as the components listed include "tricot" which I am translating as knit fabric. I do know that they are designed for "gardes d´honneurs et factionnaires" - guards of honour and sentries.... So perhaps I could call them dress gloves. |
