French term or phrase: Robe 'ballerine'
Bonjour,

Je recherche une traduction en anglais pour le terme ci-dessus. Apparemment si on traduit littéralement par 'ballerina dress', cela correspond plutôt à un tutu en tulle, ce qui n'est pas le cas....dance dress n'est pas correct non plus, ballet dress non plus et....je ne trouve rien qui me convienne ! Any suggestions ? Thanks for your help.

agree  Gilla Evans: yes, ballerina dress is the normal expression and doesn't necessarily imply tulle. It is the tight bodice and full skirt that characterise it.

D'accord... J'etais moi-meme une ballerine (pour 20 ans), mais je n'ai jamais entendu dire cette phrase, "ballerina dress" ou meme "robe ballerine." Mais, je crois que cette traduction est la mielleure....
At least, in ballet circles one would never say that. But as a layman's term to describe that style of dress, I can think of no better translation.
