French term or phrase:une balinaise
"Piscine avec une balinaise pour la détente, jacuzzi sous les palmiers, terrasse"
from a brochure for a French naturist resort in Cap d'Agde, seeking UK english, but I have no idea what a Balinaise is, and can't find it anywhere on the web...?!
Explanation: It's a style of pool, referred to as either "balinese pool" or "balinese style pool." See photos in the referenced Google URLs below.

Here, the adjective serves as the noun, much the same way as "Française" means French woman. It's common to use just the adjective when the noun is understood.
As for the pools in the photos being different, sure there are different shapes, but I think it's the usage of the pool, rather than it's shape, that qualifies it as a balinese. As the text says, it's "une balinaise pour la détente," and if you look at the pictures again, the one unifying factor is that they all have surroundings and accoutrements that create an atmosphere of relaxation. Therefore, a balainese style pool is one used simply to relax in, as opposed to a simple "piscine" used for swimming, etc.
Finally, it's not uncommon for a resort, especially an upscale resort, to offer two swimming pools, especially, as here, they serve different purposes.
still not sure this is the answer, am waiting to hear from the client, but this seems the best one so far... 1 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Not at all! I very much subscribe to the true principles of naturism, which is one of the reasons I would be much more interested in jobs on this subject than some of the... shall we say, drier, subject matter I usually work on.
Of course, there are also other places I'm interested in at Cap d'Agde, but that's a whole other story... ;-)
in the text, and I cannot imagine even the French speaking of a Balinese woman as an accessory, with no other mention or explanation. Can anyone provide another answer?
why not a Balinese giving massages? Balinese massages are very sought-after as a form of relaxation the world over. Every hotel with a spa seems to offer massages nowadays.
"Piscine avec une ? balinaise pour la détente, jacuzzi sous les palmiers, terrasse".
I've had a look at the PINK pool and it doesn't appear to be very balinese-style to me. Perhaps they mean the bar or relaxation area? Tell them that in order to provide a precise description and translation you would need to be on-site! Although by the looks of it, you have to be under 35 and very fit. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xijxef_jardin-d-eden-cap-d-...
I think maybe you're confusing "naturist" with other, more sexual, connotations, Tony. I can assure you that the two can be worlds apart, even though they sometimes clash at Cap d'Agde (30km from my house). True naturism is simply about living as we were born - and we were all born stark naked, weren't we? Sorry, sermon over! ;-)
is a masseuse from Bali hanging around the pool (!)

Balinese shower
Explanation: This is just a guess, but the fact that this accompanies an outdoor pool, maybe this could be a Balinese shower?

A l''extérieur palmiers, bananiers et plantes tropicales entourent une agréable piscine à débordement entourée de pierres de marbre blanc. Une douche balinaise et des lanternes apporte une note d''exotisme supplémentaire.
