French to English translations [PRO] Transport / Transportation / Shipping | | French term or phrase: mémoire de la V.U.
Can someone please help and explain what the "V.U." is. If someone could offer a translation (or at least a paraphrasing) for the entire phrase offered above then I would very much appreciate it - this is not my field of expertise, and so I'm not entirely sure what some of the terms refer to. This is what I have so far:
'The driver’s card or the tachograph record should suffice, it is easy to monitor any possible unregistered work by comparing the data of the card with the data of the (???) and verifying if, in the case of the (???) there are any periods of driving when the card is not inserted and, if applicable, (???).' |

Ah-ha!
How does the digital tachograph system work?
Digital tachographs consist of the vehicle unit, motion sensor and smart cards (see diagram below).
The VEHICLE UNIT (VU) is the brains of the system. It has a processor, a real-time clock, two card slots (for driver and co-driver), a display, a printer, a download connector and a facility for making manual entries. The VU is located in the driver’s area of the cab.
