Since you found my reply irksome, I now presume you asked the question about the need for me to comment more rhetorically than your initial question here!
@Polyglot : Points are not an issue, nor am I criticizing the selected formulation. I was unfortunate in the timing of my answer. Had I logged on 10 mins later I would have found Asker had already decided and been free to decide whether to pursue the issue or not. Sometimes ignorance is the best situation to be in; maybe Askers who decide early should leave us in the dark or state, as others sometimes do, that they have decided and will await 24 hours before grading. No indication of the chosen solution (not necessarily the chosen answer) is necessary (at any point).

As I read it, Chris has left it to the public vote to decide for posterity and you're looking good as things stand, so your efforts won't be wasted. The translation he has used is perfectly workable and nobody's going to die because of it. He can note your comments for later use, if he wants. At least you weren't doing it for someone who was in there over his or her head.... Nuff said !

Let's all remember that we are here to help each other and possibly move our profession forward... in refrigerated container occasionally. No need for petulance. I did imagine that your porridge comment was used figuratively. Some people find these sorts of comments highly amusing and intellectual, I find them highly annoying.

I apologise to the other translators here, who have contributed to helping me, for this lack of "netiquette" but I have explained that it was a very RUSHED job and I still receive irrelevant so-called witticisms about porridge from this person.

We - well, I, at least - don't actually care very much what people put in their translations, and there's little point in telling us, at any point. Just as Askers are free to choose the answer they consider best/correct/most helpful/most appropriate, so they are free to choose a given answer but use a different term entirely in their work. That's none of our business. When you've spent time in good faith trying to be of assistance, it is equally as irksome, if not more so, to find an answer has been chosen and/or graded before a reasonable time has elapsed, i.e. without giving time for for a fair number of contributors to have their say, as it is to find an answer other than one considers appropriate has been chosen.

Was there really any need for that comment bourth??? I know you like being witty and clever but I don't appreciate it. It was a RUSHED translation for a regular client of mine. Sometimes I don't have the luxury of waiting 24 HOURS before deciding on the correct term!!!

but each container has its own refrigeration unit, which is part and parcel of the container. It's the individual container that gets plugged into the grid. It's obvious that if you plug a container it's for the refrigeration unit. It's not to run the tv. Ce que j'en dis, c'est pour causer.
