French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Transport / Transportation / Shipping / Train braking systems
French term or phrase: asservissement
Two successive items on a list:
1. Asservissement traction/freinage - which sounds to me like "subordination" or "override" (as in KudoZ glossary), where the brake control overrides the traction control...
But the next item is:
2. Asservissement à l'urgence - which seems quite clearly to be in the sense of power assisted (or servo)emergency braking.
My problem is that this term is apparently being used in two quite different meanings in two neighbouring list items, which I would try to avoid if I was the author. I don't want to be too casual about ensuring that trains can stop! Any suggestions?

1) Coupling 2) Control

Explanation:
Il me semble que le terme "asservissement" ne rend pas compte de la même notion selon chacun des items présentés ici:
- Asservissement traction/freinage = (IMHO) coupling, qui exprime un lien fonctionnel, mais pas de dépendance;
- Asservissement à l'urgence = (also IMHO) control (avec là, pour le coup, une réelle dépendance).
