French to German translations [PRO]

Je ne suis pas très satisfaite des traductions "officielles" de cette notion, à savoir "Wasserknappheit" (cf. IATE). Le terme allemand équivaut à une pénurie d'eau (objective, en qq sorte) mais ne dit rien de l'état de souffrance de la plante (subjective, si la plante était capable de subjectivité), comme on peut l'entendre avec le mot stress.
Par ailleurs, il est fort possible que le terme de stress h. lui-même soit juste la dernière expression à la mode, par dérivation de l'anglais water stress.
A part Wasserknappheit ou -mangel, avez-vous des idées percutantes pour le rendre en allemand ?
