Manche Wörterbücher haben für sowohl *Directeur général* als auch für *Président Directeur général* *Generaldirektor* stehen.

Um eine Verwechslung zu vermeiden ist der Ausdruck mit *geschäftsführender Direktor* zu übersetzen.

Wahrscheinlich ist die Person, um die es sich handelt auch ein Mitglied des Vorstandes. Wenn sie es nicht sein sollte, stimmt *geschäftsführend* trotzdem, weil sie dann zumindest in höchster Position an der Geschäftsführung beteiligt ist (wenn auch ohne die rechtliche Haftung eines Vorstandsmitglieds).
