Bei jahrelanger faserarmer Ernährung und/oder bei einer chronischen Verstopfung kommt es im Dickdarm zu einer chronischen Erhöhung des Drucks.
Ursache
Die häufigste Ursache ist langjährige ballaststoffarme Ernährung und chronische Verstopfung. Vegetarier und Naturvölker erkranken nur sehr selten an Divertikeln. Die Erkrankungswahrscheinlichkeit steigt mit zunehmenden Alter und bei Übergewicht an. Bei 70 jährigen haben etwa 50 bis 65 Prozent Divertikel ausgebildet. Frauen sind dabei häufiger betroffen als Männer. |
