Note(s) :
Les cétacés comptent quelque quatre-vingts espèces, parmi lesquelles figurent les plus gros mammifères. Ils se divisent en deux groupes : les mysticètes, ou cétacés à fanons (par exemple les baleines franches et les rorquals), et les odontocètes, ou cétacés à dents (par exemple les dauphins, les bélugas et les marsouins).
Dans les textes de zoologie, on met une majuscule aux noms des espèces, des genres, des familles, des ordres, des classes et des embranchements.
