French term or phrase: donner ses lettres de noblesse
"Quarante-sept années durant, Dom Pierre Pérignon invente, perfectionne et donne ses lettres de noblesse à ce qu'on appellera plus tard la méthode champenoise"

Wie könnte man hier "lettre de noblesse" übersetzen? Scheinbar ist dieser Ausdruck hier ja im übertragenen Sinn gemeint, und nicht als "Adelsbrief".

...es geht ja hier um die ganz besondere Verarbeitungsmethode, die den Dom Pérignon seinen unverwechselbaren Charakter verleiht.
