Il tourna en rond pendant près de deux heures avant de pénétrer dans un café maure.

Il romanzo è ambientato in Algeria. Vorrei sapere se sia il caso di lasciare il termine in francese o se ci sia una corrispondenza appropriata in italiano.

In questo caso lo tradurrei...
Lo avrei lasciato invariato nel caso in cui fosse stato un nome proprio di un particolare caffè come in questo caso:

....Molto differente è, ovviamente, la parte vecchia di Rabat. Innanzitutto un'occhiata dall'esterno al Palazzo Reale e poi subito alla Casbah degli Oudaia, non molto grande, circondata dalle mura, racchiude una serie di costruzioni una addossata all'altra e l'unico spazio libero è un bel giardino in stile andaluso. Qui si trova il *Café Maure*, il locale forse più famoso di Rabat, in stile moresco, dalla cui terrazza si gode uno splendido panorama che spazia dal giardino e dalla Casbah stessa fino all'Oceano Atlantico, alla foce del Bou Regreg ed alla cittadina di Salé. E anche noi non ci siamo sottratti al "rito" del tè alla menta accompagnato da pasticcini di pasta di mandorle.

Andrea Alvisi: Se ne trovano di tutti i colori in rete, tra cui 'hammam cafe' :) Mi piace la proposta, in alternativa si puo' lasciare il termine in francese!

taniapescari: Forse dipende dal suono che potrebbe avere in italiano, lasciarlo in francese significherebbe avere un testo più elegante ma nello stesso tempo aggiungere una nota o comunque qualcosa che spieghi cosa sia.
