On trouve des sas au niveau des écluses, des salles blanches ou des cuisines industrielles, pour les compartiments de confinement (aussi dans les fermes aux papillons pour éviter que les insectes ne s'échappent), les tamis, les zones intermédiaires à deux environnements différents.
