Necesito ayuda para traducir esta expresión. Si bien entiendo que se trata de imitar o seguir los pasos de alguien, no logro darle la vuelta en el siguiente contexto:
"La parfumerie américaine fait une entrée remarquée. XXX, XXX, XXX etc… lancent les parfums style de vie à l’américaine et **font des émules**…
Des parfums concepts préparés par le marketing, nouveau mode de développement des parfums.

en este contexto creo que se trata más bien de tener seguidores.
No creo que se haga alusión a imitadores que traten de igualarlos.

Explanation:
"Faire les emules" es como el castellano "emular" (imitar e incluso superar". En la carrera por crear el mejor perfume, creo que es el término indicado.
