La diferencia general entre el trabajo de un kinesiólogo y un fisioterapeuta es que un kinesiólogo evaluará el movimiento, o problemas en el movimiento con respeto a la fisiología, la anatomía y la biomecánica; mientras que un fisioterapeuta aplicará las técnicas terapéuticas para corregir los problemas identificados. En ciertos países un kinesiólogo y un fisioterapeuta pueden realizar el mismo trabajo sin tener mayores diferencias que la nomenclatura, nombrando inclusive sólo como kinesiólogo a la persona que ejerce ambas funciones mencionadas con anterioridad.
