ამერიკელ სამხედროსთან გადავამოწმე ეს ტერმინი და შემდეგი რამ გამოვარკვიე: ა.შ.შ.-ში (და ბევრ ქვეყანაში) სამხედრო სამსახური სავალდებულო არ არის, ამიტომ 'წვევამდელი' იმ კონტექსტით რომელსაც ჩვენ ვიყენებთ მათთან არ არსებობს. ახალგაზრდა თავისი ნებით მიდის შესაბამის დაწესებულებაში და აკეთებს განცხადებას, რომ მას სურს სამხედრო სფეროში სამსახური. ამის შემდეგ მას უწევს ცდა, თუ როდის დაუკავშირდებიან და შეატყობინებენ საწყისი მომზადების დაწყების თარიღსა და ადგილს. ამ პერიოდში (განცხადების გაკეთებიდან წვრთნის დაწყებამდე) მას recruit ანუ ჩვენებურად 'წვევამდელი' ქვია. შემდეგ იგი გადის სწავლებას და ამ პერიოდში (სანამ სრულფასოვანი ჯარისკაცი გახდება) იგი ითვლება basic trainee-დ. თუმცა, საქართველოს სამხედრო სისტემაში 'ახალწვეულს' conscript-ად თარგმნიან.
