depreciation & amortization / jump in profit
Explanation:
Dpereciation & amortization is the standard expression used in balance sheets acc. to (US) GAAP. As far as "jump in profit" is concerned, I think you may also use "profit leap" as suggested before.

In lieu of \"profits\", you may also use \"results\". See input from Mats and Alexander.

depreciations (write-downs) / profit leap

Explanation:
Abschreibungen = depreciations or write-downs (the two terms are synonymous).

porfit leap is, I think, a somewhat more usual formulation.
Ergebnis = results, profits,

"Amortization = write-offs / Profit-leap"

Explanation:
"The slowed increase of write-offs, as well as improved interest results should lead to stronger turnovers still; increases which should result in a volume jump before taxes of 73%, to 76 Mil. €. A slightly declining tax rate, might then facilitate a profit leap of almost 80%"!

\"surge in earnings\" is also commonly used.
