I am confronted with this term in an agreement that specifies what expenses should be paid to certain parties (artistic performers).
This term is familiar to me from politics where politicians receive compensation for lost income while in public service.
Could dthis be translated with "compensation"?

I think that the headline to the itemised list something like "daily allowance" or "per diem", which means the list detials all incidentals that may not be charged separately. When we itemise chargeable expenses that is in the terms of travel, accommodation and subsistence while subsistence covers mainly food & drink
