German term or phrase: auf fremden Grundstuecken
This is an entry in a page of accounts. The context is "Grundstuecke, grundstuecksgleiche Rechte und Bauten einschliesslich der Bauten *auf fremden Grundstuecken*". I am considering "buildings on land owned by others" - does this sound OK?

on third-party land
Explanation:
This is a standard line item in German HGB financial statements, but also often appears in German IFRS and US GAAP F/S.

HGB s. 266(2) A.II.1 (under "Tangible assets")

Land, land rights and buildings, including buildings on third-party land

This is the standard translation used in e.g. the authoritative Brooks/Mertin "Deutsches Bilanzrecht/German Accounting Legislation" (it will also be used in the forthcoming 4th edition) and the XBRL GoB/German Accounting Principles taxonomy that will (probably) be published later this quarter.
