German to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Advertising / Public Relations
German term or phrase:Am Ziel, bevor andere beginnen!
Es handelt sich um eine Broschüre eines innovativen medizinischen Produkts, das das gewünschte Ergebnis (Heilungserfolg) besonders schnell und effizient erreicht.
Am Ziel, bevor andere beginnen!
steht am Ende der Kurzbeschreibung.
@Paul: True, but I was hoping (perhaps against all hope) that maybe the client recognised that the slogan needed re-translating and commissioned a new translation. Maybe it's because I'm a German native, but in my view the "even" is completely misplaced.
@Johannes: Whether or not we like the company's English translation of this slogan is not very relevant here. If a brochure is being issued, then for the sake of consistency, this new text should match the language used on the corporate website.
I beg to differ, Paul. There is a translation, but in my humble opinion it's, ahem, not very good - "AM ZIEL BEVOR ANDERE MIT DER KÜHLUNG BEGINNEN" was translated as ""ON TARGET WHILE OTHERS EVEN HAVEN'T STARTED to induce mild Hypothermia" ...
I heartily agree with SinnerAtta. Some more context would be helpful. What kind of drug are we talking about? How is it administered? What makes it so innovative? Does a racing image fit here? Any thoughts of your own? Target audience? (US? UK?).
@Ursula: Is it not true that this kind of comparative advertising is "verpönt" or even illegal in European countries? Also, it would be helpful if the text could give some information about the NATURE or EFFECT or APPLICATION of this product.
