German term or phrase:Viele sehen nur den Haken, wir den Aufhänger
Es handelt sich um eine Anzeige für eine PR-Agentur, auf der nur ein Garderobenhaken zu sehen ist und der o.g. Spruch.
Um alle Missverständnisse auszuschließen: Aufhänger ist hier als Blickwinkel/Anlass für eine journalistischen Bericht gemeint.
Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, dieses Wortspiel ins Englische zu übertragen. Bzw. eine Alternative, die zum Bild passen würde? Ich weiß, die Aufgabe ist nicht einfach, aber vielleicht findet der der Eine oder Andere Freude an der kreativen Herausforderung.
When English-speaking journalists talk about "hooking readers", don't the have a "fishhook" (rather than a wardrobe hook) in their minds? Isn't the reader the fish that should get caught or stuck on the hook?
Is it possible to say "a good hook to hang it on" instead of "a peg to hang it on"?
Aufhänger here in its journalistic sense is 'angle', so one could say: 'Some see a hook, we find the angle'. It doesn't quite have all of the meanings of the German, but it might do. Another possibility would be to go with 'hooking readers in' in some way.
Ich kann den Haken förmlich sehen. Was mir spontan einfällt, sind folgende Wendungen: "What's the catch?" (für den Haken) und "find a peg to hang it on" (für den Aufhänger). Nur mangelt es gerade an einem Einfall für eine "catchy" Kombination... Vielleicht hilft es ja jemand anderem auf die Sprünge?
Explanation: Das Wort "Haken" hier klingt mir nach "Problem" (der Haken an der Sache ist... etc.), wofür "catch" ganz gut passen würde. "Hook" wäre hier im Sinne von "I'm hooked" gemeint, was im journalistischen Sinne den Leser tiefer in die Story locken soll (hook the reader). Auf diese Weise würde das Bild darunter auch Sinn machen.
Mein Vorschlag - kann durchaus noch besser gehen! :)

Vielleicht würde "hang-up" hier besser passen? ("Some may see a hang-up, we see a hook") Ich weiss, dass hang-up keine Übersetzung für Haken ist, aber vielleicht im übertragenen Sinne, und trotzdem noch nahe am Bild...
