agree  Andrew Swift: Amazing. Five answers so far and not one of them is built around 'fall'.

  -> There's one now! It may have to do with the fact that in Germany, students are only taught the word "autumn". And rightly so!(never having used the word "fall" except for the act of falling, I find a slogan like "Fall, here I come" a bit unsettling! :-)

neutral  hazmatgerman: @Nesrin: in Germany students are not only taught "autumn". BE and AE specialities are usually part of the curriculum..//Agree up to form(!)4, but later mine tilted AE. Best.

  -> Thanks :-) I should've only spoken of my personal experience then.. German schools (in Germany and abroad) from KG to Abi, we did hear of "fall" meaning Herbst, but teachers across the board used BE (pavement, tap, autumn etc)
