German to English translations [Non-PRO] Marketing - Advertising / Public Relations / Charitable Organization
German term or phrase:Feministisches Frauengesundheitszentrum e.V.
I am translating a pamphlet from German to English that contains a directory of organizations and their addresses . In the English version, should I include the official organization name in German on its own, or with a translation, or only a translation?
Option 1: Feministisches Frauengesundheitszentrum e.V.
Option 2: Feministisches Frauengesundheitszentrum e.V. (Feminist Women's Health Center)
Option 3: Feminist Women's Health Center
It would be interesting to see how the other organisations have been treated, e.g. Weltgesundheitsorganisation (World Health Organization) OR World Health Organization (Weltgesundheitsorganisation) OR World Health Organization .

As this is a DE>EN translation, I don't think the asker's question is related to the American organisation you mention.

Welcome to KudoZ. I'd keep the full German name and add an English translation in brackets (your option 2).
@Asker: Is there any reason why you should need a German equivalent at all? Otherwise I'd just keep to the original AE term. (Option 3)
@Werner : "Feminist" is not necessarily an adjective at all. Surely it is a women's health centre for and/or run by feminist women, judging by what the are offering (abortions etc).
Also ein Frauengesundheitszentrum von oder für Feministinnen (nachdem klar ist, dass es auch männliche Feministen gibt).
This appears to be an American organisation: http://www.fwhc.org/ Consequently, it is the German name that is the translation here and not vice versa.

Worth noting is that it's the health centre itself, not its clientele or personnel, that is being "billed" as feminist.
P.S. "e.V" if I'm not mistaken, signifies a registered charity. That might be worth mentioning in the translation, if doable. Not quite sure how you'd do that, though, since in English it can't be made part of the name as it can in German. It's a detail that might be of interest to a moneyed reader thinking about giving to it and the potential tax benefits of doing so.
Den dt Originalnamen betrachte ich als Muss, eine Übersetzung als Option. Wird aus dem Kontext klar, um welche Art von Organisation es sich handelt? Werden nur Gesundheitszentren aufgelistet oder auch andere Organisationen? Sind alle feministisch oder muss "feministisch" hervorgehoben werden? Wie Andrew schon andeutet, kommt es auch darauf an, ob sich der Text an US-AmerikanerINNEN wendet (Center) oder an LeserINNEN, die die brit. Schreibweise bevorzugen (Centre). Spontan, ohne nähere Kenntnisse, tendiere ich zu Andrews Option 6 als Darstellung.
Nein, normalerweise befürworte ich die "-INNEN"-Lösung nicht, aber angesichts des Beispiels erscheint sie mir angebracht. :-)
