Considering that it relates to an advertisement, I take the liberty of going a step backwards by substituting opportunity for demand.

Spotting the business opportunity is another option. The bottom line is that you take steps for identifying the demand only to explore business opportunities....

Secondly, I think, "spotting the opportunity" appears more elegant than "identifying the demand"

und bevor ich für eine angeblich unscharfe Übersetzung Schelte erhalte, füge ich an dieser Stelle noch hinzu: Der Satz/Kontext würde auch im Zusammenhang mit der Einführung eines SAP-Systems oder einer vergleichbaren ERP-Applikation passen.
Falls es sich um Beratung eines Kunden in Sachen SAP handelt, dann wäre dies der korrekte SAP-Begriff.
In SAP wird demand entweder mit Absatz (z.B. in "demand planning" = Absatzplanung) übersetzt oder mit Nachfrage (seitens des Kunden).
Wenn es nicht um SAP geht, dann ist :-)s Antwort auf jeden Fall ok!
