German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Aerospace / Aviation / Space / Helicopters and rotorcraft | | German term or phrase: Bauzustandsdokumentation | Context: "Die Änderungsmitteilung wird als zusammenhängende Bauzustandsdokumentation zu vorübergehenden Änderungen an einem Luftfahrzeug erstellt."
I feel sure there must be a set term for Bauzustandsdokumentation, but I can find neither "document of the state of construction" nor "documentation of the state of construction" or anything along those lines. |
| | | documentation of its structural condition | Explanation: How about this? If an aeroplane is to be modified in any way, I'd say you'd need to know it is in good structural shape before the work were started?

Another way to put it is of course "structural condition assessment report", and there are a number of them out there too, such as:
File Format: PDF/Adobe Acrobat - View as HTML
structural condition assessment report done for ORC as part of the its assessment ... demolition permit following a careful documentation of the buildings' ...

This can be read both ways - as its condition either before or after the mod.; you only have to write the context appropriately. |

Asker: Thanks. This isn't so much about the need to know the shape or condition it is in before the work starts, but about documenting the temporary changes in terms of what additional components and/or measuring equipment may be fitted for testing, and the interfaces between these components and the aircraft in its normal condition.

| (zusammenhängende) Bauzustandsdokumentation (additional) design documentation
Explanation: Google for:
"additional design documentation" + aircraft

@d_williams: w.r.t. "additional", I guess I got carried away by the use of the word "additional" in your "Note(s) to answerer" under David Moore's answer. Sorry!

Asker: I'm not sure how you get from 'zusammenhängende' to 'additional', unless you misread it as 'zusätzliche'?
