Tech/Engineering - Agriculture / Coffee cultivation

Are these plants that grow at high altitudes? If so, what is the equivalent in English and what is the difference to highland coffee?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

highland plants
Explanation:

Thank you for the research - the quotation you found convinced me even though the term "mountain-grown" (thank you Ebru) is possibly more suitable for my purpose. Interesting debate.

Asker: Thanks for the suggestion but how does this translate into the world of coffee?

bush(es)

Explanation:
A "Hochgewächs" is anything that doesn't grow on the ground, i.e. as ground-covering plants od, so bushes and trees fall into this category.

Highland plants would normally be described as "HochLANDgewächs".

To the best of my knowledge, the highland coffees are supposed to have more delicate flavouring because of the rarefied atmosphere.

Notes to answerer
Asker: This sounds convincing. I suppose there is no such thing as "Niedriggewächse" so the difference between Hochland-Kaffee and Kaffee-Hochgewächs is simply that the former refers to the generic concept and the other to the plant. The "blaue" bit is also interesting since I have not yet found anything like "blue highland coffee plant" - but that is another question. Thank you

mountain-grown

Explanation:
Just an opinion thru searching thru google, I found mainly mountain-grown coffee which is said to be the finest and best coffee. But for more explanation I must continue to search in order to find the difference you are asking.

Example sentence(s):
  • Organic coffee from Costa Rica. High altitude, shade grown, super delicious
