German to English translations [PRO] Science - Agriculture / Fruit Growing | | German term or phrase: Obstbauengpflanzungen | "Als Teil der ABC-Gruppe wurde die Firma ABC-D im Jahre 1997 gegründet und konzentriert sich seitdem auf die Produktion von Sprühgeräten und Spritzgeräten für Raumkulturen, wie Obstbauengpflanzungen, Obstbauhochstammpflanzen, jegliche Weinanbaukulturen und verschiedenes mehr."
From a text about a company that makes pest management products. I haven't got the slightest idea what "Obstbauengpflanzungen" means, and there are no hits whatsoever for this word. I guess it's something to do with fruit plantations, but beyond that, not a clue. TIA for any light you can shed on this EXTREMELY obscure word. |

| | high density orchards/[fruit tree] plantings | Explanation: “Commercial apple orchards with trees planted close together on dwarfing or size-controlling rootstocks are referred to as high density plantings. When size-controlling rootstocks are used, tree densities increase from traditional densities of 150 to 250 trees/acre to 500 to 1,000+ trees/acre. Benefits of planting higher-density orchards include earlier production (especially with "fad" varieties); quicker return on investment; training, pruning and harvesting from the ground; potential increased fruit quality; and greater pesticide application efficiency.”

| Grading comment I really liked both answers here, but after further research on Google, IATE (formerly Eurodicautom) and so on, I have decided to opt for this answer. So thanks Johanna and peer graders, but thanks also to Phil for a very plausible suggestion. Appreciate everyone's help. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
