German to English translations [PRO]
Science - Agriculture
German term or phrase: Meile
'Meile' appears to be a crop of some kind but I do not know how to translate it.

Soja stammt ursprünglich aus den nord-östlichen Provinzen von China und hat sich in Japan stark verbreitet. Diese Pflanze zählt ebenso wie Gerste, *Meile*, Reis und Weizen zu den fünf heiligen Sorten von Weizen.

English translation:millet
Explanation:
Hirse is die 5te heilige Planze (Gerse, Soja, Reis, Weizen, Hirse)
maybe it's a translation from italian where mile and millet are the same word?

I'm not sure this link to a book page will work but the text says "Along with rice, wheat, barley and millet, soy beans were included among China's venerated "muku" or Five Sacred Grains as early as the beginning of the Christian era":-
