Please don't use this literal translation. In the US, "garnished" means that your income and wages have been seized by the IRS because you failed to pay taxes. :-)

Indeed, pizza. Pizza with one topping, two toppings, etc. Each topping is about $3.00 extra, pepperoni, anchovies, olives, and such. In our case "Garnierung" has absolutely nothing to do with food (the German term will rather relate to parsley sprigs or lemon slices), and should not be mistaken and translated as such.

I have heard that in both languages, but ... "Pizza" which is the same association in German, although it is a technical term.

agree with Nicole, am very surprised I couldnt find this in any dictionary as it seems very standard in the gardening world - I guess it probably stems from the idea of "well-adorned"/"decorated with..."etc.
