German to English translations [PRO] Agriculture / agriculture | | German term or phrase: Harpfe | no context, just a list of old farm buildings, such as Harpfe (Austrian German, also called Köse in German German), Brechelstube, Mühle, etc.
Apparently a Harpfe was used for drying corn or grass. What would be the appropriate old English term for that? I don't want to call it barn or shed. Thanks a lot! |
| | | drying rack | Explanation: This seems to come closest - I don't think granary/hayrack/hayrick etc. will work, as they're all for storage of already dried hay or grains. What we want is the drying rack itself. There are more pertinent sites, but my browser's locking up... Try googling for it yourself. |

| Grading comment thanks. I did go for yours despite the fact that some Austrian Harpfen came also in the form of barns. Since the entire text is about subsidies I thought it would be fair to give owners of drying racks and drying barns a chance. Let them go for all these EU funds out there..... 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
