Explanation:

I.e. Kornanlage is the beginning growth of the grain. The German term describes it as part of the plant. This phase of grain development is apparently called "grain filling" and the future grains are actually called embryos. ;-)

The first is the start of the grain filling period. The developing grain is still very soft with the maternal pericarp a mint green colour under the outer, clear epidermis. The green colour comes from chloroplasts in the 'cross cell' layer. The embryo is easy to dissect out. The grain is at the Medium Milk stage.
[...]
The embryo is developing rapidly and has an elongated shape. The densely cytoplasmic cellular endosperm, still present at eleven days after flowering, has been completely consumed by the embryo by the sixteenth day. At 16 days after flowering the scutellum is clearly defined and the embryo now uses the endosperm starch reserves near the scutellum for its own development.

embryo.

Parts of the grain: embryo (germ) - rich in oil/protein; endosperm - rich in starch; aleurone layer - protein/oil, secretes enzymes to initiate germination; bran - fruit and seed walls. Polished grain - removed bran and aleurone. One advantage is that the grain will not spoil as readily; the disadvantage is that it removes much of the nutrional value of the grain.

Corn polishing unit

Explanation:
Corn polishing unit, Corn of any kind contains in its natural form multiple layers, which when processed in the Kornanlage ( polishing Unit) would be removed, and repacked and sold in various price qualities and price grades. This is the way I know it, if I understand right.

grain anlage/primordium

Explanation:
ANLAGE
Definition: [n] an organ in its earliest stage of development; the foundation for subsequent development
Synonyms: primordium

Many English Google hits for 'anlage'.

According to http://www.weizmann.ac.il/Biology/open_day/book/yuval_eshed.... and one or two others the anlage stage occurs just before the primordium stage. As far as finding a good source of vitamins for human or animal consumption, I would guess that one would have to wait for the development of the germ (best diagram on the net I could find: wbc.agr.state.mt.us/reference/nutrition/nfd.html).
