German term or phrase: Bürgerspital
Not much to go on really as it appears in a list. Appears to be a building of historical significance.

Don't translate it. The Buergerspital was a building typical
Explanation:
of the miedieval town which, yes, the first information was correct, acting like a hospital, but ONLY WHEN THERE WERE SICK PEOPLE (plagues, etc.). In normal circumstances it was the municipal hotel where traders stayed, and if the Burg went under seige it was the place where you could get medicines. So you see, if you translate it, you lose all that! Because these days such installations no longer function.

Spital is an old term for hospital, infirmary

Explanation:
Buergerspital=was a hospital for the upcoming middle class, the Buerger.
I would not necessarily translate it,
except in paranthesis as: middle class/
citizens'infirmatory.
The name Spital is still used in Austria
for Krankenhaus/hospital.
