| attic and basement stairs
Explanation:
Stiege = stairs
Steigeleiter = up-stairs
logischerweise müßte man dann auch "down-stairs" sagen können, aber dafür finde ich keinen Beleg.
Bleibt noch, an Kellertreppe zu denken (basement stairs)
Das Gegenteil wäre eine Bodentreppe (attic stairs)

Aufgang = up-way (Langenscheidts Fachwörterbuch Architektur und Bauwesen)
Das Gegenteil ist down-way
Vielleicht sollte man tatsächlich lieber up-way and down-way sagen.
