utility building on wooden posts
Explanation:
Are you looking for "Holzständer" or "Zweckbau"?

The latter could also be "utilitarian building" or "functional building" or something a bit more poetic.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Actually I am looking for someone with a knowledge of Swiss chalets. Are they built on stilts? If not what would be the correct term for these supports in the case of traditional Alpine chalets? There is an accompanying photo but it doesn't show the Holzständer clearly.

Asker: By the way, this building has been turned into a somewhat spartan-looking but beautiful (second?) home.
