I'd have simply expected "Doppelhaushälfte", which is identical in meaning.

Gee, I hope this works for our Canadian asker. Because 'dooplex' sure don't work here in the UdotKdot. // Animated by JCC: I suppose each of the two resident families would have their own story to tell.

town house
Explanation:
in the US. A duplex is a 2-level apartment within a multi-residential building.
A townhouse generally has two floors, just like semi-detacheds, while a duplex can be found on any floor in apartment complexes. As such, it is not a 'house', but an apartment (flat)

Isn*t townhouse also used for "Reihenhaus"? That would be one rung below "Doppelhaushälfte"

Animated by Andrew's comment:
"A duplex, in housing, is a single housing structure divided into two residences. Each residence has all the features of a freestanding, single-residence home, with separate driveways, entry doors, living areas, and utilities. But there is a shared wall between the units."

Contrary to the info given below, in California, a duplex is usually a two-story house that has separate entrances for the two stories that are rented separately. That is, two parties live in the house but do not share anything.

Why did the menu change?
The updates to the menu were made to make the site easy and more intuitive for visitors. Obviously, like any change, this may take a few days to get used to.
The dropdown menus have been divided into two-dimensional panels with similar items grouped together under headings. This eliminates scrolling for those with smaller screens, and also improves readability.
More information on the changes...
Where is the "My ProZ.com" menu?
Mouseover your name at the top of the screen. Here you will find information about your account, your email settings, and more. The "My ProZ.com" menu was moved up here to simplify the main navigation, and to keep all of this type of information together.
I cannot find something
