German to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Architecture / church construction | | German term or phrase: Kapellenrahmung | | I'm translating the museum guide for the Nikolaikirche in Berlin, this term is used in a description of a burial chapel, and says the Kapellenrahmung is made of sandstone and plaster. It dates from the 17th century. |

| the chapel is framed in... | Explanation: i.e. a re-write. This is presuming it's an apse/bay structure leading off a nave; the sandstone/plaster would then be a relief portal/'window'-frame into the bay; or conceivably a frame like a (Gothic?) window-frame around a more shallow recess.
Interim passing ideas - hope it helps. & I hope they've given you pics or that you have access to the (virtual or physical) site to see what's being referred to. Press them for it if not! Best/ S. R. |
