Not sure if this means a bay window or just a window sill or even a window box...?

Genau! Mein zweiter Link könnte da behilflich sein. Allerdings habe ich solche Fenster noch nicht hier im Vereinigten Königreich gesehen. David könnte da Recht haben, daß es sie einfach nicht gibt.

A "Blumenfenster" is an element frequently found in German houses built in the 1960s: a rather large window, often set quite low, with plenty of space for flower pots on the (inside) window sill (as a decorative element that can be seen from the outside of the house).

and hence presumably just flowers on the window sill, which is why I didn't agree with "flower window (box)", but I think it means the window, not the window sill. I can imagine an elderly lady having a "flower window".

But why confuse the issue by saying "Sorry - no more context" and then providing more context?

If it is indoors, which I assume to be true,otherwise the silk flowers wouldn't last long, then it can't be a window box, these are to my mind outdoors, as can be seen on Yasutomo's link.

that is it's about an old lady with a passion for any kind of flowers, it would simply be a window in her home dedicated to flowers, not necessarily anything special like a bay window or a shop display window, so 'flower window' would probably be the safest bet here, even though it MAY be a bay window etc.

That's all I have - taken from a short story (fictional)about an old lady with a passion for silk flowers! I basically just wondered what a German native speaker envisages when he/she thinks of a "Blumenfenster"

I guess a 'Blumenfenster' can be any window where flowers are displayed. But I also imagine that single large window of the sitting room that has a sill for the display of flowers. Please see the images below.
