Explanation:
It's normally the version of the German goodbye (Auf Wiedersehen = literally 'until we see each other again) used on the phone, but the Germans being literal souls, they have adapted it to 'until we hear each other again' for the telephone, because you are not actually seeing the other person!
The above is probably the closest English equivalent, or just something simple like 'regards', 'all the best' or 'take care'.
