German term or phrase: Palmeyplatz
Not much to go on here, I'm afraid. Talking about a garden in about the sixteenth century.
Außerdem schloss der Hofgarten einen Platz für Ringelspiele, eine Rennbahn und einen „Palmeyplatz“ ein.

By the next sentence, we've moved on a couple of centuries.

Palmeyplatz gets me nowhere. Palmey gets a few hits but none seem relevant. Presume this is some sort of sport or game. Is it a typo?

All ideas gratefully received!

TIA

Explanation:
typo - I would say

palm court - my def.: it\'s an (court) area populated by palm trees :-)) - could be a \'Palmenhaus\' - palm house (greenhouse) - they have one in Schönbrunn. I guess it would be covered / protected against the elements if your palace is s/where in Central / Northern Europe ???

the typo: it should be Palme*n*platz.

maybe you could just say \'palm garden\' - then it doesn\'t matter whether it is covered or not.

Thanks, Hermann. Sorry for the delay ... connection problems! Looks like my visions of some ancient medieval form of handball were completely off-track!
