|German term or phrase: Des Aprilens Lachen verdirbt des Landmanns Sachen.|
|It is a farmers rule about weather.|
Aprils smiling/sunny jest is bound to spoil the harvest.
April's sunny/smiling jest might spoil the farmer's harvest?
I'm so amazed that I can't find an english proverb.
April in Germany could be the beginning of spring, interrupted by sudden frosts.
So, trees start to bloom, seeds to sprout, and then they get killed by frost.
"April's sun too warm, will bring the farmer harm".
I should be a poet (but german)

April's joy spoils farmer's soil.
Maintains the meaning and rhyme of the German phrase. April weather is known to change a lot and produce serious hazards to agriculture, whether it is due to rain or sunshine in often extreme amounts.
German mothertongue and English poetry skills.
