German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Automotive / Cars & Trucks / transmission | | German term or phrase: Getriebebereich | I know that "Getriebe" is the transmission, it's the "-bereich" that I don't know what to do with.
Es hat sich in vielen Anwendungsbereichen in der Automobilindustrie für besispielweise die Bereiche eines Nockewellenverstellers, der Motorschmierung und des *Getriebebereichs* gezeigt, daß Pumpen benötigt werden.
I've found numerous google hits on *Motoren- und Getriebebereich*, but am still at a loss.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as 1/3 of this patent concerns how the pump works in the *Getriebebereich*. |

From the sentence you've posted here, Rebecca, I don't see any reason to believe it is referring to a specific area under the hood (although "area" could also be used in the sense of 'field', as with application areas/fields of application), but rather to the general field of transmissions/engines/lubrication. It might help if you were to post other sentences in which the term occurs to see if it is used differently. |

| Grading comment The further I got, the more apt Brie's suggestion became: it's not the spot under the hood, but the general field.
