red biotechnology Explanation: It apparently is a recent acquisition (I'd rather do without some of those) of the German language; you find it translated as 'red biotechnology', but more or less exclusively on websites originating from German speaking countries: Von der wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung her gesehen am wichtigsten ist die "rote Biotechnologie". Bei ihr geht es hauptsächlich um die Gewinnung von Wertstoffen, zum Beispiel des Insulins für Pharmazeutika, anhand bio- und gentechnischer Stoffumwandlungen.
