It is easy to translate this. Still, I can't understand why the soil samples need to be precisely sedimented. Without understanding I am not sure about the translation.

Explanation:
I would suggest that "präzis" could be rendered by "carefully" here and would suggest "precipitated" for "sedimentiert". The sentence would then read: "e.g. if soil samples need to be carefully sedimented, mixed and prepared". Alternatively, you might use "accurately" without it sounding too odd.

In response to the comment from Jacinda Richman, I agree with her view that "precipitated" is not appropriate for a physical settling process. Suggest your original "sedimented" is in fact better.

disagree  Jacinda Richman: I have never heard of a soil sample being precipitated, it is not an equivalent term for "sedimentiert", I think precipitation usually involves a chemical reaction, whereas sedimentation is the simple settling of particles to the bottom of a solution...

agree  Ioana Claudia Popa, DMD, PhD: As "to precipitate" includes also meanings like "to separate" or "to isolate", it could be an equivalent for the German "sedimentieren". I wasn't quite sure if this is the case, but after checking it, I agree too.
