Für den XXX Fund und geldmarktnahe Fonds ist der Handelsschluß XX Uhr (MEZ).

Can somebody tell me what "geldmarktnah" refers to.
The context is about Investment Plans.

Explanation:
I don't want to repeat Beth's entry (any KudoZ points awarded should go to her), but my explanation requires more space than that available for a peer grading...

The term "geldmarktnah" is generally used for mutual funds that incorporate assets which are not MM instruments in the strict sense of the definition (such as term deposits, treasury bills, Certificates of Deposit or Commercial Paper): for instance, these funds also invest in bonds that had a longer term when issued, but now fall within the MM bracket.

According to my experience, it's safe to include these structures under the general term "money market funds" - anyone in search for the exact scope will have to check the fund's investment policy and restrictions anyway.

Explanation:
FYI, this is an excerpt from a financial glossary I downloaded from the web a while ago - don't remember the site, but can mail you the gloss if you like.

"Quasi-Geldmarktfonds. Investmentfonds, der in Geldmarktpapiere und Kurzläufer investiert. Dadurch wird eine große Kursstabilität (kaum
Kursrisiken) erreicht.
VARIOGELD." (lexikon3_Wertpapier.htm)
